STOP THE NAFTA SUPER HIGHWAY

STOP THE SECURITY AND PROSPERITY PARTNERSHIP (SPP) OF NORTH AMERICA

To Our Elected Officials:

            The Bush administration’s construction of a North American Union through its “Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) of North America” initiative with Mexico and Canada must be stopped.  The planners behind this project are working toward a borderless North America by 2010, which would be a disaster for U.S. national security and would spell the end of U.S. independence.

            The SPP violates the U.S. Constitution.  The United States Constitution ( Art. 4, Sect. 4 ) affirms that our form of government shall be a republic, not a “partnership” with other countries.  The SPP illegally changes the relationship of the several States with respect to the Federal government;  this accumulation of power will be detrimental to subordinate levels of government as well.  Furthermore, construction of the NAFTA Superhighway System is not within the enumerated powers delegated to Congress, and cannot be rationally construed to be a part of the regulation of commerce between the States ( Art. 1, Sect. 8 ).

            The SPP and proposed North American Union (NAU) will subvert our ability to properly govern ourselves regarding issues unique to respective locales and infringe upon the rights of the citizens therein.

            I encourage you to oppose the creation of this international regional entity which will exercise tax and police powers without direct responsibility to the voters and the taxpayers which such agencies are alleged to serve.  Clearly, the objective of those seeking to create such regional bodies is the destruction or usurpation of the people’s authority over local or state governments.

            Regionalism causes the loss of control by elected officials, with unlimited power reverting to appointees, and adds to the ever-increasing tax burden.  Regionalism seeks to dissolve county governments;  transfer state powers to a central authority in Washington;  administer the affairs of United States citizens through a network of Federal Regions and State Regional subdivisions;  seize control of land and production facilities;  and change our form of government.

            Please use your influence to sponsor a version of House Concurrent Resolution (H.Con.Res.) 487 “Expressing the sense of Congress that the United States should not engage in the construction of a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Superhighway System or enter into a North American Union with Mexico and Canada.”  This resolution sponsored by Rep. Virgil Goode (VA-5th District).  The text is as follows:

                        CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

            “Expressing the sense of Congress that the United States should not engage in the construction of a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Superhighway System or enter into a North American Union with Mexico and Canada.

            Whereas, according to the Department of Commerce, United States trade deficits with Mexico and Canada have significantly widened since the implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA);

            Whereas the economic and physical security of the United States is impaired by the potential loss of control of its borders attendant to the full operation of NAFTA;

            Whereas a NAFTA Superhighway System from the west coast of Mexico through the United States and into Canada has been suggested as part of a North American Union;

            Whereas it would be particularly difficult for Americans to collect insurance from Mexican companies which employ Mexican drivers involved in accidents in the United States, which would increase the insurance rates for American drivers;

            Whereas future unrestricted foreign trucking into the United States can pose a safety hazard due to inadequate maintenance and inspection, and can act collaterally as a conduit for the entry into the United States of illegal drugs, illegal human smuggling, and terrorist activities; and

            Whereas a NAFTA Superhighway System would be funded by foreign consortiums and controlled by foreign management, which threatens the sovereignty of the United States: Now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That—

            (1) the United States should not engage in the construction of a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Superhighway System;

            (2) the United States should not enter into a North American Union with Mexico and Canada; and

            (3) the President should indicate strong opposition to these or any other proposals that threaten the sovereignty of the United States.”

            For further information on the grave threat to U.S. national security and independence posed by the SPP/North American Union initiative, go to www.JBS.org/nau and http://www.americanpolicy.org/ .

            Stop the NAFTA Super Highway and stop the North American Union.  Protect the liberties of your constituents!

            Yours,

            Douglas D. Strother

Good Article Douglas. If you step back and take a overall look, many moves are being made like puzzle pieces coming together to quickly but quietly move us to first a North American Union and on to total globalization.. Dial 1 for English, fail to enforce immigration laws, and hiring laws to lure the unemployed from other countries. Multi language ballots, open up Social Services to anyone and hopefully any where in the NAU.. It is a big plan already in motion... Thanks...

Iam Canadian and agree with everything presented here. Big business owns us too much already. We can manage our trade just fine without implementing their agenda and therefore eroding our collective rights and loosing the control we now have at the local level. Big business and Government lie to the people to get what they want. Even when Governments try to do right by the people they are often innefective because of the corruption and greed within. The people are frequently the loosers. Big business already has more than enough influence.
