On October 1st ABC news reported that a group of influential religious conservatives had gathered in Salt Lake City, Utah to discuss the possibility of throwing their endorsment behind a third party in the 2008 election. What they had neglected to tell us was that the party under consideration is the Constitution Party. In fact Jim Cylmer, the National Chairman of the Constitution Party was in attendance at that meeting.

The reason conservatives are so unhappy is because the two major parties have become so similar that one can hardly tell them apart. They both love big government social programs. They both will promise the world and deliver nothing. They both engage in partisan bickering, which really amounts to nothing more than political theater. Meanwhile nothing gets accomplished in Washington.

Every election, Republicans who claim to be a conservative talk the talk, but few if any walk the walk once elected. They claim to be Pro life, but never work towards reversing Roe v. Wade. They say they want to reduce the size and scope of government and then vote to expand it. They ramble on about fiscal responsibility and yet our national debt grows to aproximately nine trillion dollars under a Republican administration. In short they have talked up their conservative credibility but have shown us just the opposite. Saying I'm a pro life, pro family, small government conservative was a tactic that worked well for the Republican Party in the past. But not any more.

These days those tactics seem to be wearing thin as the American voter realizes they have been duped. Just take a look at the low approval ratings for the Congress and for President Bush. You can also look back at the 2006 elections. Sean Hannity could be heard daily pleading with the Republican faithful not to stay home on election day or the Democrats would win control of the Congress. But it was to no avail, the faithful stayed home and the Republicans got their clock cleaned.

What Hannity should have been pleading for was that the Republicans would come to their senses and run a real conservative, which is the same thing that he should be doing now. But he won't. Instead he makes excuses for Rudy Giulliani. He grants multiple interviews to Republican flip flopper Mitt Romney. He blathers on about Washington lobbyist Fred Thompson. Meanwhile the American public continues to look for a candidate that they can feel good about voting for, but with the exception of Texas congressman Ron Paul, they can't be found in either the Democrat or Republican parties.

But what more and more Americans are discovering is that there is a party that represents their ideals and values. Its the Constitution Party. The members of the Constitution Party do not view themself as left or right. They see themselves as constitutionalists, because they rightly believe that the U.S. Constitution protects the liberties and rights of all Americans.

The Constitution Party has built itself into the third largest and fastest growing political party in America. That is no small feat, and as the exodus from the two major parties continues, the Constitution Party will continue to grow in leaps and bounds.

Do yourself and your country a favor and check out the Constitution Party. Call up your local party and get involved. They are looking forward to meeting you.

All well and good. I've been to the CP website, and so far have not seen a list of candidates that the Constitution Party is bringing forth or getting behind. So what's up?

Amen! In 1980 I left the Democratic Pary when it made infanticide its party platform and began its infatuation with homomania. In 1996 I left the Republican Party when its presidential candidate called people like me "extremists." Millions of us stayed home on election day. Now at least we have a third option.
