Even you can't deny the fact that this election was just as much an expression of disapproval of your misguidance of our nation's direction as it was an exercise in merely selecting your successor. The fact that it was such a lopsided victory suggests that the voting public is convinced that any change from our present governance must be a change for the better!
Mr. President, you are presented with a momentuous opportunity. How you respond to this opportunity may be more memorable than anything else which might impact your legacy!
Mr President, the nation is in crisis. Businesses are failing at an alrming rate, jobs are being obliterated, the financial foundation of our economy is crumbling, people are losing their homes, and the list goes on and on! Mr. President, I submit to you that, under these circumstances, the last thing we need in the White House right now is a lame duck for the next two months! Yes, I know that two months doesn't appear to be a lot of time remaining in your term; however, judging from evidences such as the rapid pace of the undenial recession and the wild swings in the stock market in one day, for example, two months might seem like an eternity!
Mr. President, you have the opportunity to make a magnanimous gesture. You could stand down and yield the remainder of your term to your successor, to give him and his incoming administration a jump on trying to straighten out the mess which you have made of things (I don't know how else to put it, Mr. President?)! Let's face it, Mr. President: your legacy is shot! Following this suggestion might be the most honorable, merciful thing you might do at this late date to redeem in any way your legacy!
There is nothing which you can do to redeem the Iraq War. However Iraq might eventually turn out, such an overwhelming vote of disapproval was an acknowledgement of what an horrendous blunder the Iraq Invasion was on your part! Mr. President, it is time for you to concentrate on what good you could do for the country now! I submit to you that there is no greater good that you could do for the nation at this moment than to yield the remainder of your term as a gesture of good will!
Think of it, Mr. President, how the country said with its overwhelming vote that it wants you gone yesterday! Do you really want to hang around under these circumstances, knowing that your whole governance has been so utterly rejected? Wouldn't it be so much more merciful for you not to stand in the way of your successor's addressing these unprecedented challenges which we as a nation face?
Yes, we all may wish in hindsight that you had surrounded yourself with individuals who had the courage to stand up to you and give you candid advice, even if it went against what you wanted to hear, as opposed to your surrounding yourself with a bunch of 'Yes' men. Alas, you got what you wanted!
You have a choice, Mr. President. You can either bury your head in the sand and pretend that you were not fazed by the outcome of this election or you can yield to the will of the people? What do you say, Mr. President?
Think of it: you could go down in history as having down something magnanimous as your last act in office! You could be remembered for your last act as being something which you didn't have to do, but something which you chose! By performing such a symbolic gesture, you could be remembered as having made an invaluable contribution towards the healing of our nation in these perilous times! Don't you think that such an historical legacy is worthy of your sacrifice?
Mr. President, the country is indebted to you for your manning the helm as we passed through dangerous waters! You will always be remembered for your resolute stance in the face of mortal dangers. Whatever question marks may be placed beside your judgements in the annals of history, your courage will be un-assailed!
Mr. President, I have merely made a suggestion. The choice is entirely in your hands!
Respectfully submitted

If you want to REALLY go after those responsible for this economic melt down then you better turn away from the White House and look to Congress and Wall Street.
Our economy is crashing, Which party led the charge sense 1977 with the call for affordable homes.. Who helped ACORN push banks into making unwise loans. What party, blocked the reining in of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac letting them give out basically easy loans to those that could not afford them and taking credit for making homes available to the poor. What Politicians received the most PAC monies from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and What party did they represent. Who kept telling everyone all along that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were OK and did not need any reining in?

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Campaign Contributions, Top three.... 1. Dodd,CJ D-CT 2. Obama,B D-IL 3. Kerry, J D-MA

Note: Barack Obama has been in the Senate for only what 2 or 3 years, what did he do to get $126,349.00?
The media has lead the way in pointing the finger at the White House and some are buying it. Congress is throwing money at this in hopes of diverting public attention away from them. And the real joke is Sen Dodd leading the Congressional investigation into this financial mess when he is hip deep in the mess.
