I do not care if you are a Republican or a Democrat. I do not care if you agree with the war on terror, and how it is currently being waged. It does not really matter to me what your opinion may be on water fluoridation, oil well drilling, or the immigration issue. What does matter to me, and matters very deeply, is if you have an opinion, if you have a chosen set of values and beliefs, if you have taken up the issues and have made the decision to stand for your choices.

Freedoms are not lost in the discussion and battle over differing opinions. It is lost in the apathy of those who once possessed the ability to stand and to choose.

We have the duty, the moral obligation, to make our opinions known and to have our voices heard. We have the freedom to choose, and freedom is a principle not to be taken lightly. It is a principle to be defended and cherished.

Those who are found in the service of their country know best the sense of obligation and duty that freedom gives and requires.

Those who have in the past and those who do even now stand at the ready, know the importance, the urgency, to defend the inalienable rights of all human beings to resist the evil designs of conspiring men and to endeavor to secure and preserve their own peace and tranquility.

Make no mistake. Such is the state and current affairs of the world. No one has the luxury of standing idly by. It is imperative, even critical, that we stand and make our opinions known through our privilege to vote.

Each one of our votes is important and will make a difference. It is our vote that portrays the complete picture of the mind and will of the people. But the picture can not be complete if all eligible individuals will not vote. If we do not vote we can not exercise our right to choose…or complain!

Dante once wrote that all that was necessary for evil to triumph was that good men do nothing. History has proven this statement time and time again. We can not afford that mistake. Let’s get out and vote and make our will known. Let’s have a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

It looks like the American Citizen has bought the line that it is OK for one class to feed off another without producing one class of poor.

Davy Crockett while a Representative voted NO to giving public funds to a war widow. He stated to the House that the Constitution only allows the paying of National Debt with public funds and this was not a National Debt no matter how it is presented. BUT he was willing to give the widow 1 week salary if every member of the House did like wise. The bill was voted down, and no one gave up a weeks salary. Just shows that Politicians will spend our money but not their own.

We need to always remember that there are those who choose to create jobs, those who choose to take jobs, and those who choose to do neither but want to be paid anyway.
