Answer: *****Grace is first, then peace is second.
In order to have peace with God, God’s grace must be first given. Peace with God is second to the grace of God. One must be saved by the grace of God in order to have the peace of God and peace with God.
God’s grace (greek: charis) means God’s kindness and favor to undeserving sinners unto salvation. God’s grace is his goodness. Without grace, salvation is impossible. Luke 17:10 says that “we are unprofitable servants.”
Ephesians 2:8 says, “We cannot earn our salvation by good works. It is all by God’s grace. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”
Romans 11:6 - "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work."
Titus 3:5-7 says, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour: That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” The price paid at Calvary is the ONLY price able to purchase our salvation. There are not enough good deeds available for any one of us to do to ever deserve God’s grace.
2 Thessalonians 2:16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,” God’s grace means pardon for sins and forgiveness as though one had not committed them. Christians are called by grace and saved by grace. God’s grace helps us in times of need and makes us better people.
Is God’s grace for just the special people? Titus 2:11, "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men." It is interesting to note that God’s grace has been extended to all men, yet all men are not saved! That is not God’s fault though. For he came "to seek and to save that which was lost."
Luke 19:10. This was the whole purpose of Jesus coming to earth. God purchased our salvation with his own blood, Acts 20:28. Christ did the work to make salvation available to us.”
Titus 2:11-12, "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;"
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life."
[Romans 5:8-10]
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Jesus has paid for our sins.
Colossians 1:20-22 And having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether thy be things in earth, or things in heaven. 21And you, that were sometimes alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
Peace is a gift of God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Ephesians 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
If you have Jesus Christ, you have peace with God.
When circumstances threaten me, how do I appreciate that peace?
Focus on the LORD and not on the problems.
Concentrate on the problem solver, the Lord Jesus Christ.
1) Keep your eye on the LORD. Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
2) Put it into practice. Believe that Jesus has the solution to this problem.
Perfect Peace-undisturbed calm=serenity of the mind.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
God’s checks won’t bounce. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengetheneth me.
Psalm 119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
3) Concentrate on God-concentrate on His Word. Pray.
Philippians 4:16 Be careful for nothing: but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God; and the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep you hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.
Colossians 3:14 And above all these things, put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness, and let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Why pray about something if you can handle it? Prayer is a confession that I cannot handle it. It is an act of humility that God will honor.
4) Come with thanksgiving to God and believing that he knows what’s best. God has promised to give strength.
Psalm 29:11 The LORD will give strength unto his people, the LORD will bless his people with peace.
If something was known to be an infallible cure, it simply would cure him. If not immediately, we know it is going to work in the long run. It just takes some time to see the effects.
God’s promises are infallible. So, Let’s trust him.
