The 1986 Amnesty bill includes provisions to secure our borders, enforce
hiring laws and immigration law. It passed into law and 3 million illegal aliens got Amnesty. We did not see however the rest of the provisions addressed in a meaningful way.
Now in 2007 we have a thinly veiled Amnesty bill which again includes provisions for border security, enforcement of hiring and immigration laws.
Also includes a Guest worker program.
Citizens see through this as just an Amnesty bill for 20 MILLION illegal aliens. Because we already have a right to expect all the rest of the provisions to be carried out as set forth in the 1986 bill that was passed into law. The security provisions do not have to be re-approved
So now we have a President who is literally saying that to get Border security, enforcement of hiring and immigration laws we have to approve another Amnesty for 20 Million illegal invaders to our country and all their relatives also.
How dare he? Border security, enforcement of hiring and immigration laws
are not a bargaining chip in this.
The Constitution demands that they be provided to US Citizens, the 1986 Amnesty bill demands that they be provided, the 9-11 attack demands that they be provided, the many security assessments demand that they be provided.
And therefor what is left of this 2007 S 1348 bill is an "AMNESTY BILL ONLY" and the Majority of Citizens are opposed to it, plain and simple. They also demand that we have border security, enforcement of hiring and immigration laws. No bargaining, non negotiable, just do it.

On this certain immigration bill I think that we do need to do something about all the immigrants coming over, but I don’t know if we are doing all we can. The point of how we grant them amnesty and others nothing at all isn’t right. Are we not Americans trying to make everything equal we ask ourselves?

I agree with this article because we should have other people in different countries come over but with a little Amnesty. We can learn more about them and they way they live and how they were teached in there country and how we as american citizens can help them out and in courage them to stay in there country. We as american citizens have rights to do things our way but other countries don't so why leave them out, so they won't have any freedom like us. If we do this to them we're no good as the people treating them wrong. So i say the Amnesty Bill is the right way to go.

I think we need to do something more also. Giving them amnesty isn't fair to the already citizens. it's not fair to even the immigrants who have worked how many years to recieve citizenship.

At first the immigration bill was working great but as time past it got weaker if we make a new one the same thing going to happen the government doesn’t care about this. we need to fix the government first to fix this law

First of all the government should live up to the laws that they pass, because if they don’t it just shows other countries how corrupt we are, second passing another amnesty bill is just an easy way out for a few years. This bill would tell many more people in Mexico that it is ok to immigrate illegally to the United States, And since the country is already in debt there is no way that money is going to be spent to increase border security and in 1986 we were in less debt and nothing was done then. How can we trust our government.

I feel that allowing the immigrants amnesty that are already here if a good idea. But I also feel that if we didn't want so many of them coming over here illegally then maybe we should tighten security. If we were to lighten up on our standards of becomeing a citizen then maybe we wouldn't have so many illegals. I feel that the process should be to were an average american citizen could do it at 100%.

I believe that amnesty should not be granted. It is unfair for illegal citizens to basically get a free pass into our country without going through the proper process. If immigrants desire to come to America they should realize that they need to do it legally and just because they are already here does not mean they should be absolved of that responsibility.

This bill would tell many more people in Mexica that it is ok to immigrate illegally to the United States. If we had more amenest bills it would help. It would be eazier because illegal immigrants would not fear as much about being deported.

In this immigrants bill I don't think it is alright. I don't really have an idea about the immigrants because it really depends. Some immigrants that come into our country think they can run everything. It's the immigrants that the Americans lose there jobs to because tthey are better than the original person. There can be a few that can come over here but there cant be as many. The immigrants have little amnesty than us Americans. I think I disagree about them coming to America.

If we allow immigrants to be called Americans, than we can have a variety and a mix to see how they live, and what they do differently then what we do. I feel that we should be pleased that immigrants choose to come here. It should show us that we may be doing something right if they want to come and live the same lives that we live. I understand that immigrants want to make a better living but doing it illegally is not the way to go. I hear people say all the time that illegal immigrants are stealing our jobs away from us. That is their own fault employers choose the best workers for the job. If you aren't the best for the job its not the immigrants fault that they are more qualified for that job.

I understand where you are coming from. But i i dont belive in the amnesty bill. Thats just a lazy way out. We could actually do our part and secure our boreders here we have thousands of unemployed people that could secure our border but we do nothing.

An average of 25 US citizens die every day at the hands of "Illegal Aliens". That's about 8000 per year. That's 44 THOUSAND sence the 9-11 attack in New York. That's more harm than the Islamic Terrorist have managed to inflict on us. This does not count the people who have been raped and maimed by them but live. Or the economic burden they have placed on our system. Don't tell me how wonderful it is to have them here.. They are an occupying army of gleaners taking from this land what they can and contrary to what liberals would have you believe most have no intention of becoming citizens but plan to return to their own home they left to come here in the first place...

this is (sadly) true. they want to 'solve' the problem by making more of it. the only thing they are really trying to do is put on a good mask so they can get into the presidency. they want votes... from the immigrants. 20 million votes for the guy that does this? that sounds like a strategic bargaining chip. it also sounds like conspiracy...

• Granting all the illegal immigrants is giving them what they want. They come in here illegally to get a chance to not have to go through the correct process of becoming a citizen. I do not think giving another Amnesty would be a good idea. We need to send them back to go through the process correctly like all the other people do. It is only fair to those who have to suffer the process. We need to portray the equal rights America gives and we can show this by making it fair to all immigrants to go through the same process.

I don't think we are doing all that we can to keep the immigrants out. All we are doing is catching the immigrants that are trying to come to America and letting them go so they can try again. I think there should be a certain kind of penalty for them.

I do agree with this article. The Amnesty bill has promised things like border security and hiring of immigration laws, but is yet to be fulfilled. They made sure to grant the amnesty to the illegal immigrants, but it seems they forgot all about the original agreement to better enforce the immigration laws. I just believe that as American Citizens, we should be given what we were told that would be given out. I feel that it is more important to fulfill needs of those who are not citizens than those who are, which goes against what we built this country off of. Not only does more need to be done, but to do what was suppose to be done to begin with.

Ok smart one, and did you know that this country is built on immigrants as well, if not this country would still belong to the indians, so i dont know what to tell you. how are you not being given what you need? immigrants have no impact on trashy white people who cant get a job, thats they own fault and they cant expect to get benefits for that

To the above comment.. Get your head ottaa your posterior. Yes this country is built on immigration, way back it did not require any formal paper work to come here. Then our government (we the people) decided to control immigration and therefor produced the application process. Which by the way is still in use and we still accept LEGAL IMMIGRANTS... And you are completely outta line on Cost to "Trashy White People" Illegal Invaders take lower pay and make up the difference in their needs by Social Services, some of which by the way "Trashy White People" can never qualify to receive.
And who do you think pays for these services? That cheap head of lettuce is not so cheap when you figure in the cost of the Social Service they use to supplement their lower wage. I'm not going into incarceration cost to communities or for education or health services, illegal voting and other illegal activities.
