Many people tout Ronald Reagan as a great president. I honestly cannot comment on that. I wonder why people would want to assasinate him? But this quote keeps coming up, and I have heard that he read the Bible and believed it, but this first sentence is disturbing....
"I know in my heart that man is good."-Ronald Reagan
Frpm the second part of the quote, I can agree with. "That what is right will always eventually triumph." The good does win, that is true. 1 Samuel 17:50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
" And there's purpose and worth to each and every life." And this part is true, too. Every life that is lived is from God. What we do with our lives is our responsibility and our gift from God. Psalm 139:14 says, "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."
So, Ronald Reagan was partly wrong and partly right when he said that quote: "I know in my heart that man is good. That what is right will always eventually triumph. And there's purpose and worth to each and every life." The Bible wins every time.
About the Author
1 Samuel 17:52 And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron.
