A Womens Right To Choose

This is how it is usually is presented; at least from what some call the "left". A woman's right to do whatever she wants to do; with her own body.  Kinda infers that anyone that wants to restrict a woman's ability to do whatever she wants, is the bad guy . But that's obviously the intent .

Does a woman have this right? Doesn't this also beg the question : Where do rights originate and what are they?  I'm going to define a right as an action that an individual can perform with impunity. Impunity being: exemption from punishment, penalty, or harm. I'm also going to differentiate that there is impunity from man and/or from God .

Let me digress for a second and state that I am a Christian.  My perspective is Christian. I understand Who made us and why He made us. I also understand that we have obligations to our Creator. He gave us some rules.  He gave us our rights.

Our Declaration of Independence states :  
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, ........

The Declaration recognizes that our Creator has endowed us with rights. The Declaration also recognizes that the civil government's duty is to protect these rights. Protection includes, of course, the punishment of those that transgress these boundaries. Government has power.
Again; the Declaration states that "among" these rights are the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (also know as the right to own property). The right to life is condensed in the Commandment 'Thou shalt not murder'. The right to life comes from God; not from government . In fact; no rights come from government. Governments' purpose is to protect the rights that our Lord has granted to mankind. God considers life so precious that He has demanded the death penalty for those that do murder. Rape also demands the death penalty. God demands that women be secure from this heinous crime.  Women have a right to some security.

As another aside; the death penalty is not murder. Murder is the purposeful taking of an innocent life. God's ordained penalty for the taking of an innocent life is death.
He says in Genesis 9:5:

Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast  I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother I will require the life of man. “Whoever sheds man’s blood,By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man."
So mankind - men and women - have rights to do whatever they want with their bodies up to the point of violating God's Commandments. Women are free to do whatever they want with the exception of violating any of God's commandments or violating the rights of others.  So a woman is not free to cram her fist into the face of another individual. Using her body for prostitution is illegal in most states.  Using her tongue to lie can be perjury.  But the focus of this article is, of course, abortion; the taking of the life of an unborn child. A woman does not have the right to punch another in the face; to strangle someone or to take a life that she is carrying in her own body.

How do we know that a woman doesn't have this right?  We know by looking at our Creator's law. We look at the Commandments and the explanatory case Laws. Case law informs us that borrowing someones merchandise and returning it to them broken is theft . It is a violation of the Commandment thou shalt not steal. We see this in Exodus 20:15:
"You shall not steal" 
and in Exodus 22:14:
And if a man borrows anything from his neighbor, and it becomes injured or dies, the owner of it not being with it, he shall surely make it good."One of the case laws for murder is Exodus 21:22-23:
“If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely, yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished accordingly as the woman’s husband imposes on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life, ........ "
We clearly see that the Lord regards the life of the unborn child. With this in mind; there is no legitimate apologetic for abortion. It is defined as murder by our Creator. It is not a right that woman (or men) have.

The Scriptures state in Revelation 21:8:
"......murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
The Lord also declares His mercy in Zechariah 1:3:
“Return to Me,” says the LORD of hosts, “and I will return to you,”.
We see more mercy in 2 Corinthians 7:10:
"For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death."
The mercy of our Lord is declared.  If we as individuals and as a society will turn from our sin there is great mercy and kindness available. Liars, thieves and murderers (all of us) can be forgiven if we genuinely ask. But sometimes not without impunity from God's ordained earthly punishments. a repentant heart will always escape the ultimate punishment.

Another often repeated apologetic for abortion is that, in the past, women have aborted their children in unclean conditions, using clothes hangers, etc. and that many women have permanently injured themselves and that some have died.  Although I am convinced that these examples are rare and over emphasized I do not doubt that these occurrences have existed.  The argument continues that women are going to get abortions anyway and we ought to provide safe and sterile environments for them. But why should anyone be provided with a special environment to murder their child? Do we provide safe havens for rapist and liars?  It is sad that any women have died or mutilated themselves but we should stop the possibility of this practice occurring by punishing those that murder and educating our society that this is a sinful and avoidable situation. There are many Churches and organizations that are yearning to help these women. A compassionate society would provide even more help for girls and women that are struggling with these problems.  All of us should do whatever we are able to do.

I am not deeply addressing the psychological and physical complications that follow abortion. They can be very serious. A compassionate society would address these serious issues and not hide and deceive others to protect and promote this most heinous crime against an innocent child and against Jesus Christ our Lord .

It is the God given duty of civil government to protect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Texas is currently doing a poor job. Let's be more compassionate. We can do much better.

Seriously speaking (is there any other way?) abortion as of every other sin against God is just another way to keep people out of heaven.
When a child is aborted that child is automatically received into glory, Amen but the consequences of this heinious barbaric act against Man are....
1. the mother is held acountable
2. the doctors and nurses who do this crime are accountable
3. the hospital and government who allow it are accountable
4. and finally all those who stand by and say nothing, this includes myself,are ccountable, there is no excuse I stand as guilty as if I were indeed the mother.
This is why God was manifest in the flesh as Jesus Christ, so take your eye of the world and place it on God accepting Him as your Saviour, then abortions will cease, adultery, thievery, incest,rape in fact you won't have to lock your door at night. is there a clearing appearing?

Today's America doesn't believe that abortion is either immoral or unconstitutional, because -- aparently -- the majority doesn't accept the view that an embryo is real life.

So if you could provide reasonable proof to the contrary you might greatly advance the position you espouse.

Without reasonable proof, an article like your is only so much opininating, ventilating, and pissing into the wind if I may say that without giving personal offense or appearing to take sides.

If reasonable proof were provided, would you accept it? No. You only want to believe what is convenient for you. Abortion is the ultimate murderous and selfish act.

Perhaps you can catch the documentary on the Discovery channel called "In The Womb" where the narrator continously calls the three or four week old child in the womb a "baby". He does so throughout the documentary. The last time I checked babies were alive. Watch it if you can.

The fact that a baby in the womb is alive is "self evident". This nations founders knew it and the producers of the documentary know it. I can only hope that someday you see it as well.

Only a barbaric society murders the innocent and defenseless.

The Abortion Scenario of Today



The People Before:
"The whole group rose up and took Jesus before Pilate, where they began to accuse Him, "We caught this Man misleading our people, telling them not to pay taxes to the Emperor and claiming that He Himself is Christ, a king."

The People Now:
The people rose up and took the unborn children before the Supreme Court and began to accuse them, saying, "We caught these things threatening to use our resources and pollute our lands. They will cost us taxes, and they claim to be human." They will be a burden and will impede on our freedom we had before they arrived.

The People Before:
"So Pilate asked Him, "Are you a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. I was born and came into this world for this one purpose, to speak about the truth. Whoever belongs to the truth listens to Me."

The People Now:
So the Court asked the children, "Are you human then?" The children answered, "Do you even have to ask? We want to be born to give witness to the truth. We are children of God just as you. Do not be afraid to admit the truth about us." "And what is the truth?" asked the Court.

The People Before:
"At every Passover Feast Pilate would set free any prisoner the people asked for. At that time a man named Barabbas was in prison with the rebels who had committed murder in the riot. When the crowd gathered and began to ask Pilate for the usual favor, he asked them, "Do you want me to set free for you the King of the Jews?" He knew very well that the chief priests had handed Jesus over to him because they were jealous. "But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to ask, in stead, for Pilate to set Barabbas free for them."

The People Now:
The Court knew that the children had been handed over because they caused pain and worry, and tied their parents down and put a strain on the budget. So they said to the people, "Which do you want, the responsibility of the children you have produced, or a life devoted to your own ease and whatever pleasure you can buy?" The people answered, "Give us our privacy so that we may do whatever we wish."

The People Before:
"What then, shall I do with Jesus called Christ?" Pilate asked them. "Nail Him to the cross," they all answered. Pilate asked, "What crime has He committed?" "Then they started shouting at the top of their voices, "Nail Him to the cross!" When Pilate saw that it was no use to go on, but that a riot might break out, he took some water, washed his hands in front of the crowd, and said, "I am not responsible for the death of this man! This is your doing!" "The whole crowd answered back, "Let the punishment for His death fall on us and on our children!" Then Pilate set Barabbas free for them and had Jesus whipped and handed Him over to be nailed to the cross.

The People Now:
"What then, shall I do with these children?" asked the Court. "Away with them!" they all answered. But the Court asked, "What if they are human?" Then they started shouting at the tops of their voices, "Away with them!" Finally the judges washed their hands of the whole affair and said, "We cannot say whether these beings are human or not. Take them yourselves and kill them. It is a private matter between a woman and her doctor. We are not responsible for their death." The people answered back, "Let the punishment be upon our children!" Then the Court handed the children over to be done away with.

As of 2004 over 43,000,000 babies have been aborted!
What can be said about a nation that has become so barbarous that there is no conviction over this unthinkable atrocity? What can be said about those that place "freedom" above morality? What can be said of a nation that promotes perverseness and stifles truth, integrity, morality, compassion, and any other virtue that may conflict with unbridled freedom of "choice"

I will tell you what can be said:
God will judge this nation and every individual that is guilty! As Christians we should pray and boldly proclaim the truth regardless of consequence from a liberal society.

I am also a Christian, but lets be truthful here.. How many Christians are lined up at the abortionist door willing to take the children into THEIR homes if only they would allow the child to be born... How many children go unwanted in state care while we protest against abortion. We let children already in the state system go unwanted without families to love and care for them.. Knowing that deformed and Mentally challenged children in state care have little chance of adoption, are we as Christians willing to walk the walk by adopting or just talk... Do you think the Lord will praise us for our work and not hold us responsible for providing good homes to the unwanted children.... If you push your beliefs onto another and succeed, are you also willing to follow your beliefs in providing a home to the child when born?
Oh, one more point.. Making abortion illegal will not stop abortion, fact... It just becomes more dangerous and practiced by anyone with a coat hanger...

this article really spoke to me. i feel the abortion is murder and that in no instance should the life of and innocent child be taken. ever, they did no wrong so why should they be punished? but yet millions of people line up at the abortion clinic every year to do just that. making it illegal wont solve the issue though. solving the issue comes with educating people on the matter and showing them how it effects everyone and how the act they are commiting is really, in a way, murder. "an eye for an eye."

I think that women should be able to decide if they want to keep their baby. Im 17 and I would think about having an abortion because Im not ready to have a baby. Its your body you don't need people telling what to do with it. Why bring a kid into this world if its going to suffer?

When it comes to Abortion i DO not agree with it!!!! No body should kill a growing baby in side of you.and if your not ready for a baby in your life give it someone who is ready or someone who cant have childen.

I agree with Steve's comment above.
Ah the Christian holier than thou drum beaters. If legal abortion is abolished, I will expect to see as much fervor and indignation and the holy work carried on in three areas.. I want to see all the holies lined up to adopt all the unwanted children, and two, I want to see these same holies crusading as hard against the ally way abortionist with the coat hanger and third I want to see them present at the funerals of those women killed with the coat hanger. Now let me state. I AM NOT IN FAVOR OF ABORTION, I AM against those who would force their beliefs on others and not step forward to deal with the results afterward. Lets see how much Christians step up to the plate in adopting and fighting against ILLEGAL ABORTIONIST.

Wow! This has become a very heated subject and has lasted quite a while. As passionate as both sides are, the root problem remains. Those without Christ will "live as they see fit" and those who say they are Christian, but only on Sunday, will also cry out "you can't judge me" when called to stand up. Don't shame HIS name. Be on fire for the Lord or cold, be luke warm and He will spew you out of His mouth.
If you do not want to have an abortion or baby, don't have sex until you are married! Sex is reserve by GOD for marriage only. Not for pleasure, prior to that...to test someone out to see if you like him/her. Think end result, one knows if they drink and drive they could crash and potentially kill yourself or another. If you swim without life jacket, you could drown. If you have sex, you can catch a disease and/or bare a child. Every action has a reaction, good or bad. God will judge, Christians are to point out sin in a loving manner.

Religion, always used to back up ones reason to control others. Doesn't matter if it's Christianity, Islam, Hindu, etc. etc. Some feel holier than thou and try to force their beliefs on others. History is full of this attempt and usually ends up in some form of war. More people have been killed over this attempt to control others with the rightousness of their beliefs. Killing is wrong. You do not need to beat your religious drums to make this point. Instinghtively we know this without the drum beats.. Why is it that religious groups always want to control others? Why is it that all religious groups feel they are the only ones with the TRUTH? Why do Christians who profess to be against killing the unborn be willing to kill the Doctor, Nurse and others who perform the abortions? Murder is Murder, RIGHT....

Good point and the smartest thing said yet. God's birth control "Keep your legs tightly shut". With all the different birth control devices, pills and shots available. Abortion should be be done away with except when the mothers life is in jeopardy or incest and rape.

The real question is, When is the beginning of life in this issue? The constitution has been quoted for individual rights. When is one an individual. Some states will prosecute for killing a pregnant woman for both the woman and baby. Some will not. My daughter in law was in a car that was struck from behind at a stop sign a few weeks before delivery, the Baby was still born from damage to the cord assumed from the impact of the collision. That driver was not held responsible for the child's death.
If the unborn can not survive outside the womb, is it an individual yet? Is it a viable individual?

Yes, I think that women have to the right to choose what they want to do with their body. However, why would a woman kill an innocent, unborn child? That's what I don't get about life, about abortion. Women hate on men when they kill, rape, or steal, but it's ok for them to kill an UNBORN child!!!!! I don't think so, that child has done nothing to you, it would of loved the woman more then she would of ever known, but she won't find that out because she killed the baby. I hate abortion, but the woman should have the rights to do whatever they may please with their body. I just don't think that an abortion is good for your body either. If they don't want a baby KEEP YOUR LEGS SHUT! Guys: KEEP IT IN!!! It's not that hard!!! Dang...

Women lead their own lives. They do whatever they want when they want. If they want to go ot and have unprotected sex then thats their decision but if they get prego then they should live with it. Yeah it may be your body and you can do what you want and thats what got you the babie in the first place. Moral of the story is dont be a keep your legs closed!!!

Women should always have the right to decide whether or not to have an abortion because it's their body. It's sometimes very hard for a women to go through labor. When they get raped, having an abortion is the only other reasonable solution to that problem.

The choice of an abortion should be to the woman, whether or not the people agree with this. The cause of the pregnancy is unknown to most people, therefore it cannot assumed what should be done. Why should a woman be cursed to carry a child that is a result of rape.

You have no right to force other people to live by your doctrine. Freedom of religion is still a right under any worthy democracy and if someone else's moral code allows them to be okay with premarital sex, contraception or abortion, it is their decision, not yours. What consequences may come will be theirs to deal with, exactly as it is in your life. You don't have to like it, but don't expect any say in it either.
